The Book I Can't Stop Thinking About

I keep coming back to that book.

Alfred de Vigny wrote it in 1832. The main character, Stello, is a young poet — sensitive, a little unraveled, caught in that particular kind of crisis where you want more out of life than the world seems willing to give you. He wasn't trying to be difficult. He just wanted to feel free. Real.

I don't fully know why, but every time I run into that name — in the book, or in some fashion spread with all that boldness and quiet extravagance to it — the same thought shows up: I wish I could talk to him. Tell him it's a different world now. Tell him things are freer than they used to be.

What I'd Want to Tell Him

I'd want to start with, hi, Stello.

Before It Had a Name

We'd been making clothes for a while before any of this had a name. No grand plan — just friends. Someone would mention a fabric they loved, a cut they wanted, and we'd make it happen. Word got around. Friends brought friends.

Then one day, someone asked, almost in passing: "You've been doing this forever — ever think about actually turning it into a brand?"

The Word That Wouldn't Leave

I laughed. Didn't have an answer. But that word — Stello — was suddenly just there, stuck in my head, refusing to leave. I told the team: if we're naming this thing, that word has to be in it somehow. Which felt strange, honestly — it didn't seem to fit what we were trying to make. Simple. Comfortable. Nothing loud.

So I dug in. Turns out, in Latin, stello means to shine.

What Shine Actually Means to Us

That's when it clicked. This was never about being the loudest thing in the room. It was about something quieter — helping the people who wear our clothes feel just a little more themselves, a little more lit up, in the middle of an ordinary day. Good fabric. Clean lines. Nothing you have to think too hard about. Just clothes that let you shine a little, without trying.
